Visitor Check-Ins
Track who visits your physical location with a QR code or a tablet at reception - no hardware required.
Visitor Check-Ins
Turn any phone or tablet into a self-service check-in desk for your physical location. One page works two ways: print it as a QR code for visitors to scan with their own phone, or leave it open on a tablet at reception as a walk-up kiosk.
Getting started
Setup is staff-assisted, not self-service - email support@6xcom.com and we'll set up your check-in link and QR code. Print the QR code, or leave the kiosk page open on a tablet at your front desk. Once set up, a visitor just types their name (phone and email are optional) and taps Check In - no further configuration needed on your end.
Multiple locations
If you operate more than one physical branch, let support@6xcom.com know - each location gets its own QR code and its own filtered check-in log.
Host arrival alerts
A visitor can pick who they're here to see. That staff member is notified the moment the visitor checks in. Let support@6xcom.com know which notification channel you want:
- Email (default) - free.
- SMS - billed to your wallet at your normal SMS rate, the same as sending from your Send SMS page.
- Both.
SMS alerts need the host to have a phone number saved on their agent profile (Agent Portal → Profile) - without one, only email is sent even if SMS is selected.
Call alert (optional escalation)
On top of email/SMS above, you can turn on a free phone call as an extra nudge: Also ring an extension the instant a visitor checks in, - let support@6xcom.com know if you want this on. When it's on, the moment a visitor checks in, 6X places a free, on-net call to a phone in your business — by default, the specific host's own extension (so their own phone rings for their own visitor), or a fixed extension you choose from the dropdown if you'd rather one phone (like your front desk) always ring for every check-in instead. There's no charge for this - it's an internal call, never routed out to a real phone number - and it's capped to one ring per minute per extension, so a burst of arrivals never turns into a burst of calls.
Returning visitors
Typing a phone number that's checked in before automatically fills in the visitor's name and email from their last visit - nothing is overwritten if they've already typed something themselves.
Appointments
If a visitor's phone number exactly matches a confirmed or pending booking for today, their check-in is automatically linked to that appointment - no separate step needed.
Inviting a visitor ahead of time
Email support@6xcom.com to pre-register a guest. They receive an email with a QR code; scanning it on arrival checks them in instantly with everything pre-filled, and marks the invite as arrived.
Watchlist
Send a name, phone number, or email to add to your watchlist to support@6xcom.com. A match at check-in never blocks the visitor from entering - 6X doesn't control your physical door - but it flags the check-in and emails you immediately.
Photo capture
Visitors can optionally take a quick photo on the check-in screen using the device camera - no extra hardware needed.
Recognize returning visitors by face
Ask support@6xcom.com to turn on Recognize returning visitors by face for your account to be told when someone who's visited before comes back — even if they use a different name, phone number, or email this time. When it's on, every visitor sees a clear consent screen before their photo is taken and can decline while still checking in normally either way; nothing is ever matched without that explicit yes.
A recognized visitor shows a 🔁 Recognized — visit #N badge next to their name, on-site and in your full log — click it to see every timestamp of every time that same person has checked in. Matching only compares faces within your own business, never across other businesses on 6X.
This runs in the background after check-in (a couple of seconds, not instant) and, like any face-matching, isn't perfect — it's deliberately tuned to occasionally miss a real returning visitor rather than risk wrongly telling you two different people are the same one.
Kiosk lock mode
If you leave the check-in page open on a shared tablet at reception, ask support@6xcom.com to enable kiosk lock mode, which adds a lock button to the page itself. Locking goes full-screen and discourages navigating away. This only affects visitors - staff already have their own portal login and are never restricted by it.
Live updates
The Visitor Check-Ins dashboard updates itself the moment someone checks in or out - no need to refresh the page.
Emergency roster and exporting
Click Emergency Roster for a one-click, print-friendly list of everyone currently on-site - both visitors and any staff currently clocked in. Click Export CSV to download your full visitor log.
Staff attendance
Visitor Check-Ins is for outside visitors. Your team's own clock-in/out is a separate, dedicated system with its own reporting - contact support@6xcom.com for attendance settings. A "Staff — Clock In" link on the visitor check-in page takes staff straight to that real attendance flow, so the same tablet can serve both without mixing the two together.
Leads
A check-in where the visitor leaves an email address also appears on your existing Visitor Leads page automatically - it's not a second, separate list to check.
