Business Numbers (Real Phone Numbers)

A Business Number is a real local, mobile, or toll-free phone number — separate from the browser-based call link every 6X account gets by default. Customers can dial it directly like a traditional office line, and it's what appears on their caller ID when your staff call out.

Getting a Number

Numbers are self-service from the Wholesale Portal's Inbound Numbers page — pick a country and type from the price list. If a real number is already in stock, it's added to your account instantly. If not, click Request instead — your wallet is charged the same country price, and 6X sources a real number from our DID vendor partner, typically live within one business day. Either way, you can toggle inbound/outbound after activation and configure how it routes (forward, IVR, ring an extension, callback) yourself right there. See live pricing for every country at 6xcom.com/numbers.

Inbound and Outbound, Independently

Each number has separate Inbound and Outbound toggles, so a number can receive calls, be used only as your outbound caller ID, or both.

  • Inbound — calls to this number route to a staff extension you choose, or into your IVR/Call Menu if one is configured (see IVR and call menu setup).
  • Outbound — set a number as primary to make it the caller ID your staff show when calling external numbers.

Billing

Calls to external numbers outside 6X are charged per minute at your plan's rate. Internal calls between your own staff are always free, and receiving inbound calls costs nothing beyond the number itself.

💡 Note: A Business Number is a real PSTN number reachable from any phone — different from your free 6X call link, which only works from a browser with a microphone. Most businesses use both: the call link for the website/live chat widget, and a Business Number for customers who prefer to just dial a number.
