Live 1:1 Instructor Sessions
How education businesses (and their own teaching staff) become instructors, and how students find, schedule, pay for, and attend live 1:1 video sessions on 6X Telecom Academy.
Live 1:1 Instructor Sessions
Alongside the free self-paced courses, 6X Telecom Academy connects learners with real education businesses for live, 1:1 video sessions — think of it as a small marketplace built on top of the phone/video technology you already use on 6X.
For businesses: becoming an instructor
- Your business needs to be approved as an Academy Instructor by 6X. The Education & Training phonebook category is where 6X looks first, but any business can apply — email sales@6xcom.com or ask your account manager. You'll get an email once you're approved.
- Once approved, you get an Academy section in your business portal nav: My Students, Teaching Staff, My Courses, Assignments, Progress Report, and Earnings — plus a public instructor profile (bio + subjects you teach) that shows up on academy.6xcom.com/instructors.
- Students are matched to you either by selecting you themselves from the public Instructors page, or by 6X assigning them directly.
- Set your weekly teaching hours from Bookings → Services & Availability in your dashboard — the same scheduling tool used for any other appointment-based service on 6X.
Schools with multiple teachers
If more than one person at your business teaches, you don't have to be the only instructor identity. From Teaching Staff, turn on Academy Instructor for any of your own staff (owner, admin, staff, or agent roles — not cashier). Each one gets:
- Their own instructor card on the public Instructors page (with their own photo, bio, and subjects — shown as "Teaches at [your business]").
- Their own students, schedule, assignments, messages, progress report, and earnings view — all inside their existing staff portal, under a new 6X Academy section.
- Their own weekly hours, set independently from yours or any other teacher's, so nobody's calendar blocks anyone else's.
Revenue from a staff-instructor's paid sessions still goes to your business wallet (not a separate wallet per teacher) — how you pay your staff for the sessions they teach is up to you, same as any other staff compensation.
For students: finding and booking an instructor
- Browse Instructors, filter by subject, and select one — instructors can be a business or one specific teacher at a business. From then on you can start an instant call ("Start Now") or pick a specific time ("Schedule") from their open hours.
- Sessions are free by default. Some instructors set a price for their time — if so you'll see it before booking, and payment happens through 6X's normal secure checkout. Instructors keep 80% of what you pay; 6X's share funds the platform.
- You'll get an email confirming your booking, and a "Join" button appears 15 minutes before your session starts. Cancel anytime before it starts if your plans change.
Live help on a specific course
Instructors can flag which self-paced courses they offer live help on, from their own My Courses page. If your instructor teaches the course you're studying, you'll see a "Live Help Available" card right on that course's page, linking you to book a session with them.
During the session
- Live video with mute, camera on/off, and screen sharing — same controls as any 6X video call.
- A shared whiteboard both sides can draw on, with a few colors and a clear button, toggled on with one click.
- A live text chat panel for typing during the call — separate from the private message thread below, and nothing here is saved after the call ends.
Homework and grading
Instructors can send assignments (with instructions and an optional due date) to their students. Students reply with text and/or an uploaded file. Once an instructor grades it (a score out of 100 plus written feedback), the student gets an email with their result, and both sides can see it any time from their Academy dashboard.
Messaging your instructor
Each student ↔ instructor pair gets a simple private message thread — separate from your business's regular customer chat and separate from the in-call chat above — reachable from "My Instructors" (students) or "My Students" (instructors).
Reviews
After a completed session, students get a one-click review link by email — a star rating plus optional written feedback. Ratings are public on the instructor's profile and their phonebook listing, and only count if they came from a real completed session.
Tracking your progress
Students get a Progress page with courses completed, total XP, average quiz score, sessions attended, attendance rate, and average assignment score — plus a breakdown per instructor. Instructors get an equivalent Progress Report showing the same stats per student, so you can see who's doing well and who might need a nudge.
Instructor earnings
If you charge for sessions, your Earnings page shows your all-time and this-month totals from paid sessions, a breakdown by teaching staff member if you have more than one instructor, and a list of recent payments — pulled straight from the same wallet credits that land in your balance automatically.
