Inbound Numbers, IVR & Callback Routing
Configure inbound voice routing (forward, IVR, callback) and inbound SMS on your assigned numbers.
Inbound Numbers, IVR & Callback Routing
Beyond outbound termination, your wholesale account can also receive real inbound traffic — voice and SMS — on numbers assigned to you by 6X. This covers how to configure a number once it's assigned, build a basic IVR menu, and use callback routing.
Getting a Number
Numbers are assigned by 6X support — contact us to get one added to your account. Once assigned, it appears under Inbound Numbers in the sidebar with independent Inbound and Outbound toggles, so a number can be inbound-only, outbound-only, or both.
Routing Types
Open Inbound Numbers → Configure on any assigned number to choose how it handles incoming calls:
- Forward — bridges the call straight to a number or SIP URI you specify (e.g. your own softswitch or SIP endpoint).
- Basic IVR — plays a greeting and routes the caller by key press. Build menus under Basic IVR in the sidebar.
- Callback — answers, asks the caller to enter a number, then calls them back on that number — routed through your account's normal outbound rates/balance, same as any call you place yourself.
- None — the number doesn't accept inbound calls even if the Inbound toggle is on.
Building a Basic IVR Menu
- Go to Basic IVR in the sidebar and click Create IVR Menu.
- Name the menu and optionally upload a greeting WAV — drag and drop or click to browse, auto-converted to the right format. Leave it blank for a default tone.
- Add key options: for each digit, choose Forward (bridge to a number/SIP URI), Callback, Operator (same as Forward, for a "press 0" style option), or Hangup.
- Set the input timeout and max invalid attempts, then save.
- Assign the menu to a number under Inbound Numbers → Configure, routing type Basic IVR.
Inbound SMS
If your assigned number is SMS-enabled, inbound text messages to it are logged automatically — check SMS CDRs, where inbound messages show a purple ⬇ IN badge and a Received status, separate from your outbound sends.

Notes
- DTMF is RFC2833 by default across the platform — there's no per-account setting for this yet.
- Number assignment itself is support-only; routing configuration (forward destination, IVR menu, callback, in/outbound toggles) is fully self-service.
